The Norwegian Air Sports Association’s National Gliding Centre was officially opened in 1989. It is named after the famous Norwegian flying pioneer Ole Reistad.

The Ole Reistad Centre is located in Starmoen Fritidspark (a regional activity park) on the outskirts of the town of Elverum, around 100 km north east of Oslo. Starmoen Fritidspark is also a centre for other activities such as golf, rifle shooting, motor sport and horseracing (harness-racing).

From the National Gliding Centre, you can fly to the major valleys of Østerdalen and Gudbrandsdalen and to the mountain terrain in the northwest. Soaring to 2,500m isn’t unusual and the mountain terrain often gives strong thermal activity.

The distance record, starting from the Centre in Elverum, is more than 1000 km.

The Ole Reistad Centre is in full operation from Easter to September, with fulltime aerotow pilots and instructors. The centre also has accommodation, camping facilities, a self-catering kitchen and a conference room.

If you would like to visit the centre, you do not have to book in advance, but during the high season in the spring and summer we recommend that you contact us before you come.

Visits by clubs and larger groups should be arranged in advance by contacting the Centre Manager, John Eirik Laupsa.

We are now starting our 13^th year of fulltime operation at Elverum. The 1200m asphalt runway and grass areas are ready, and we have plenty of space!

A user fee is charged to all pilots using the centre and is to be paid at the Centre’s reception before your first flight. Whilst at the reception, sign the protocol book to confirm that you have read and understood the airfield rules and regulations. You will also be given a customer number, which is to be given to the aerotow pilot before each take off.

The user fee is NOK 400 for a season or NOK 150 for one day.

Rooms, cabins and camping plots are charged by the night, but season rates are also available. Please contact the Manager John Eirik Laupsa for further information.
