Information to foreign pilots who wants to fly in Norway.

What you need to know before flying in Norway.

To be allowed to fly in Norway you have to hold a valid IPPI licence. Your National organisation can issue the IPPI licence that gives proof of your flying experience and also that you hold a legal licence. Be prepared to show this licence whenever you are asked for it. Some of our flying sites has local restrictions. Take contact with one of the locals before you fly!

Hang and Paragliding are regulated from HP/NLF (that is Hang and Paragliding section of the Norwegian Airsports association). HP/NLF is situated in Oslo and the opening hours is every day from 8.30 - 16.00 hours. The phone number is 0047 23010480. Part of the flying season HP/NLF is run from the National centre of hang and Paragliding in VÅGÅ. This is the main place to go flying in Norway:

The National center for hang and paragliding in Norway is located in Vågå, about 300 km from Oslo. The center offers accomodation, camping facilities, meals, transport, salesarea etc. Vågå and the surroundings offers good places to start on every wind direction. The highest start in Vågå is Blåhø, 1618 meters above sea level and 1200 meters above landing. Good place to start for a XC or just to fly for fun.

The center is open from easter to october and most of the time there will be a person in charge there. Use the link above to learn more about Vågå.

One of our members has written an article about flying in Norway generally with description of some of the most used places to fly. Follow this link: http://home.online.no/~100km/articles/unspoiltNorway.htm

From Salknappen, a nice take off at 1400 meters above sea level (1050 above landing).
